BE's breakdown and scoring of the fight:
Our referee: Tony Crebs
Round 1: for Ramos: Ramos shows that he's reactive, letting Dominguez come in and get caught. Ramos looks more effective with impressive offensive intelligence. No doubt, he looks stronger.
Round 2: for Ramos: You can still tell that they aren't long running professionals I think but Ramos just looks slicker. Ramos lands some good stiff jabs that he didn't really have in the first round. He lands a few in a row. His reflexes look significantly better than Omar's. Teddy says he is a ''thinking man fighter'. Dominguez finally lands a hard flush shot as Ramos' confidence seems to lead him to come forward instead of Omar who's been doing most of the forward motion. Ramos easily wins the round.
Round 3: for Ramos: The punch track shows that Ramos has superior accuracy. Ramos gets in some great body work and Dominguez returns it but it just doesn't seem to have the same strength. I don't know about their amateur backgrounds but it looks like Ramos has had much more experience by the way they're fighting. Teddy mentions ring generalship by Ramos which is a great word to mention for Ramos in this fight. He has controlled it thoroughly.
Round 4: for Ramos: Ramos is behaving like Dominguez can't hurt him. Dominguez's nose is bleeding. Dominguez has landed some good shots while Ramos is getting more aggressive and open but they just aren't doing the damage that Ramos is giving. Ramos is capable of knocking Dominguez back. Omar looks outclassed and outgunned though he's landing more punches than he has in previous rounds. The blood from the nose seems to really bother him. You can see and hear him seemingly trying to sniff the blood back in.
Round 5: for Ramos at a 10/7 on my card: Ramos still showing that he can snap Dominguez's head back. He controls distance well when he tries. Ramos hits Dominguez with a hard right hook followed by a straight left and puts him down. They were jarring punches, no doubt. Teddy says it's ready to stop. Ramos goes after Omar to finish it. Omar does his best to tie him up a bit and holds on a while. He turns around and takes a knee seconds later, getting up on the seven count. I think besides the accumulation, Dominguez specifically took a good body shot that made him think he needed time to recover. The bell comes in and they go back to their corners.
Round 6: Dominguez is not coming out. It's a smart way to go. When you've got no way to fight somebody, there's no shame in stopping. He was getting marked up pretty good. It's a TKO for Luis Ramos.
BE's Bottom line: Luis Ramos was just far better in every way. He looked to be the harder and more accurate puncher. He looked to take punches better and have superior boxing skills and natural reflexes. Dominguez did the best he could and admirably tried to bring the fight to Ramos for the first part of the fight but there was nothing he was capable of doing to turn the tide. Their records are similar but they are not. Ramos will move on to bigger and better fights, no doubt. Dominguez's future is anyone's guess.
